What we light

The photos on this page are our own work around Collin County: brick homes outlined along every roofline and peak in warm white, with red and green uplights washing the walls and entry. Most displays are built from a few pieces:

  • Rooflines and peaks. The outline that people see from the street. Following the gutter line and every gable gives the house a clean, finished shape at night.
  • Trees and shrubs. Wrapped trunks, lit canopies on smaller trees, and lights on the foundation shrubs fill in the space below the roof.
  • Uplighting. Colored floodlights aimed up the brick or stone add depth and color without more strings on the house.

You can do all of it or just one piece. A roofline alone is a classic look; adding trees and uplighting turns it into a full display.

Planning the look

Warm white is the most popular choice and suits the brick and stone homes common in McKinney, Prosper and Melissa. Multicolor reads as more playful and nostalgic. A popular middle ground mixes the two, keeping warm white on the roofline and adding color through uplights, like the homes in our gallery.

Think about where the house is seen from. Lights on the front roofline and the trees closest to the street get the most attention for the effort. A two-story peak is impressive, but it’s also the hardest part to reach yourself.

Skip the ladder

The main reason people hire this out is the ladder. Second-story rooflines in December, often in wind or after a cold front, are where many holiday injuries happen. Letting someone else handle the climbing, the extension cords and the timing is a lot of what you’re paying for.

Booking

Holiday installs are first come, first served. Most holiday installs happen between early November and the first week of December, and those dates go quickly. The sooner you call or text, the more choice you’ll have on install day. Sending a photo of your house helps us get you a quote faster.

While we’re out, it’s a good time to think about the rest of the yard. Fall leaf clean-up and shrub trimming make the lights look even better.

Questions we get

When should I book Christmas light installation?

As early as you can. Most people want their lights up by the first week of December, and install dates fill up as Thanksgiving gets closer. Calling or texting in October or early November gives you the most choice of dates.

How is Christmas lighting priced?

It depends on how many feet of roofline you want lit, how high the roof is, how many trees and shrubs are included, and whether you want uplighting. The quickest way to a quote is to text a photo of the front of your house to 469-422-0563 and tell us what you'd like lit.
